Playa de las Américas is the party capital of Tenerife, that’s the most important aspect to remember about this lively resort on the south coast of the island. Thousands of revellers live it up in this vibrant and colourful holiday destination that is renowned for its 24-hour festivities, making it one of the most popular places to visit in all of Europe.

Young people head to Playa de las Américas for its hedonistic appeal; in particular the one kilometre stretch known as Verónicas that is packed with nightclubs, cabaret bars, live music venues, shops and restaurants. Neon lights, music pumping from the doorways and people dancing in the street are what you will find here. It really does come alive at night, every night!

If you are looking for peace and quiet, then perhaps Playa de las Américas may not be for you. Bear in mind that many holidaymakers who stay elsewhere on the island visit this bustling resort before heading back to the much calmer ambience of their chosen retreat – see Tenerife’s recommendations here

And then there is Golf las Américas, an 18-hole course right in the heart of this resort. It offers stunning views, verdant greens and has lakes that twist and turn through the landscape. If you want to try out your skills in a special setting, head to the nearby Golf del Sur, the south’s premium hotspot for golfers.

Families love to spend a day strolling around Playa de las Américas, as there is much to keep the kids amused. Many holidaymakers like to take advantage of the hustle and bustle of this resort, its golden sandy beaches and warm calm waters.

In addition, water activities like jet-skiing, scuba diving and windsurfing are on offer as well as a large number of boat excursions to choose from including whale and dolphin watching cruises, trips on a pirate ship and a journey to the seabed on a yellow submarine.
