The island of Tenerife has two airports: the Tenerife North Airport (or Los Rodeos) and Tenerife South Airport (also known as Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport in honor of the former Queen of Spain). The south airport is situated in a tourist area, and therefore is the busiest, having hundreds of connections to different parts of the world. Tenerife North Airport operates mostly domestic flights between the islands of the archipelago.

Tenerife South Airport (TFS)

Tenerife South Airport (TFS) is located in the most tourist area of the island and was inaugurated by the former queen of Spain, queen Sofia, in 1978. Thus, it is known as Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport.

This airport is busier than the North Airport and offers over a hundred air links to other parts of the world. In 2014, for instance, this infrastructure handled over 9 million passengers!

Tenerife South Airport is 60 kilometres from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 10 minutes away from Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos. This space offers various services, from information desks on flights and the airport itself, as well as connections to several transportation, such as buses, taxis and car rentals.

Services
Tenerife South Airport has ATMs, a bank, conference and meeting rooms, public phones, free Wifi, bars, restaurants and shops (perfumes, souvenirs, jewellery, newspapers), pharmacies, among others.

People with reduced mobility
This airport offers all facilities for people with reduced mobility, such as ramps and adapted bathrooms.

Luggage
This airport has luggage support services, in case of delay, loss or destruction, as well as a Lost and Found area.

Travelling from the airport to your destination by Bus
Bus lines 343, 111 and 450 connect the airport to several cities on the island and vice versa. The departures from the airport occur on the Arrivals floor, and the company that operates these trips is Transportes Urbanos de Tenerife (Titsa).

Line 343 connects directly Tenerife North and Tenerife South Airports, in approximately 50 minutes (costs €9.70). Line 110 connects Tenerife South Airport and the capital, Santa Cruz, as well as the largest beaches on the island. Travelling to Santa Cruz costs €9.35 and to Los Cristianos €3.20. Line 450 connects Tenerife South Airport to the beaches of the city of Granadilla (the trip to Granadilla costs €2.45 and to Playa de las Américas €3.20).

Travelling from the airport to your destination by Taxi
If you prefer a more comfortable and direct trip, you may always choose a taxi, available both at the airport and in various parts of the island. The trip from Tenerife South Airport to Playa de las Américas costs about €20, to Granadilla €13, to Los Cristianos €19 or to Santa Cruz de Tenerife €66.

Tenerife North Airport (TFN)

When combining the international airports of Tenerife South and Tenerife North, also known as Los Rodeos, both concentrate most of the air traffic of the Canary Islands, with several millions of transit passengers per year in these two infrastructures.

Tenerife North Airport, opened in 1946 and located 11 kilometres from the capital, Santa Cruz, in the municipality of San Cristobal de La Laguna, essentially operates domestic flights (connecting Tenerife to other islands of the archipelago), although it also works with some international destinations.

This airport has information desks, where you can get details about flights and airport facilities. It is connected to several types of transports, from buses to taxis and car rentals.

Tenerife North Airport has bars, cafes, restaurants, a bank, pharmacies, ATMs, conference and meeting rooms, Wifi, public telephones, as well as shops (perfumes, newspapers, regional goods, jewellery, etc.)

People with reduced mobility
This airport gathers all facilities for people with reduced mobility. However, in case you need any particular equipment, like a wheelchair, it is recommended to book it in advance with the airline.

Travelling from the airport to your destination by Bus
To travel to and from Tenerife North Airport, you may use bus lines 102, 107, 108 and 343 of the interurban transport company in Tenerife (Titsa). There are trips approximately every 30 minutes, and the departures from the airport occur on the Arrivals floor. Line 102 connects the airport to the capital (Santa Cruz) and the north of the island. If you travel from the airport to Santa Cruz, the ticket will cost €2.65. Lines 107 and 108 connect the airport to the capital, and other large cities on the island, such as La Laguna, La Orotava, Garachico or San Juan de la Rambla (this city only has line 108). If you are travelling from the airport to La Laguna, tickets cost €2.45, to La Orotava €3.80, and to Garachico €8.65. Line 343 connects Tenerife North Airport and Tenerife South Airport, everyday, in just 50 minutes (ticket: €9.70).

Travelling from the airport to your destination by Taxi
If you prefer a more private transportation to or from the hotel, you may always choose a taxi. This service is available from several points on the island. In terms of prices, if you travel from the Airport to La Laguna or vice versa, the approximate price is €8, while if you go to Santa Cruz, it will cost you about €18, and to Puerto de la Cruz €34.
