Car Hire
The best way to see the beautiful island of Tenerife with its impressive beaches, dramatic coastline, stunning mountains and the lunar landscape of Teide National Park is to rent a car.

This is easy with the help of Spain-Tenerife. Our partner, Discount Rent A Car, has a huge selection of high quality cars for rent all over the Canary Islands. Pick up the car straight from the airport or have it delivered directly to your hotel; whatever your preference. Choose something large, small, convertible, 4x4 – all at very competitive prices.

Documents needed to rent a car include a valid driving licence and passport. It is worth mentioning that there are some things you should be aware of when motoring in Tenerife. Our 'Driving in Tenerife' page will tell you everything you need to know about some of the laws, rules and regulations about getting around by car in the Canaries.

Taxi
Finding a taxi is easy in Tenerife. From the moment you step out of the airport you will see them lining up outside; you cannot miss them! There are taxi ranks in every single resort and they can be spotted driving around all over the place.

Taxis display a green light on the roof or in the windscreen and will have an official plate with the letters ‘SP’ (servicio público – public service) on them. All journeys are metered and prices vary depending on the time and day you travel. Obviously, the fare goes up after midnight and will be more expensive on bank holidays.

Bus Travel
Getting around by bus in Tenerife is a very affordable way of seeing the island. Spain-Tenerife recommends you pick up a timetable from any of the bus stations or many shops. Your hotel reception will also be able to help you with local bus information.

It is possible you may have to change lines and buses in order to reach specific places, not all buses go directly to their destinations and this can be quite time-consuming.

In Tenerife the public bus company is called Titsa and the buses are green and white. They are comfortable, air-conditioned and are heavily used by residents, so can get busy at times.

Using a bono bus card is a lot cheaper if you intend on making several journeys. It is very reasonably priced, gives you discount on fares and can be purchased at the bus station or on many of the buses.
