Already considered one of the main tourist attractions in Tenerife, Loro Parque was now awarded, for the first time, the Humane Certified seal of approval, which recognises the park’s commitment to the defence of animal welfare and the staff’s dedication to the responsible care of all the animals.

This is the first time that the American Humane, an organisation founded in 1877 to ensure the animals’ welfare, safety and well-being, awarded this prestigious standard to a zoo in Europe, which is a great achievement in the protection of nature and animals, as it was highlighted by the American Humane’s executive director, Dr. Robin Ganzert.

The mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Lope Afonso, referred to Loro Parque as a key tourist landmark of the municipality, as ‘The successes of Wolfgang Kiessling’s company are also the successes of our municipality.’
